  • Predictable

One of the first books in a while I have struggled to get through stopped 100 pages before the end. Very predictable and cliche.

  • Loved it!

Superbly written and had me in tears of joy & sadness throughout. For a 25 year old that lost her dad just a year ago it truly spoke to me - thank you. So many wise lessons throughout too - I will be rereading and paraphrasing.
  • Good

Although this wasn’t my favourite of her books (See: a tie between Here’s Looking At You and Who’s That Girl?) I will forever credit Mhairi McFarlane as the romantic-comedy author most deserving of that overused and rarely appropriate ‘laugh-out-loud’ review. Her style of writing is witty and her observations often have my highlighting her clever summaries and understandings every couple of pages. I liked the characters in this and the problems they faced, how they were tested etc. However, I have to say that upon finishing the book I felt as if the romance storyline had taken a bit of a backseat, even though it was touched upon quite a lot. I feel as if I didn’t really get to know Lucas (in particular) that well, and the whole thing between him and Georgina felt rushed. Overall though, Mhairi is still my favourite author and I’m sure I’ll reread this book in the future.
  • Witty, Funny, and Heartwarmingly Genuine

This book will make you laugh, cry and swoon all at the same time. I became so emotionally attached to Georgina, as I think most women will, because for me she emulates so many characteristics I didn’t even acknowledge about myself, and being able to view them from her perspective was genuinely eye opening even though it was actually nothing new in particular. The story itself, I feel, maybe could have been ‘fuller’? And I query this myself but I just wonder if I would have liked to have connected with Lucas more as a character and have seen more between them. However, having said this I do think this story is brilliant as conducting a self fulfilling prophecy, and Georgina on her own is a fantastically funny and entertaining character. I extremely enjoyed this book and recommend it if you are just feeling like you need uplifting or maybe just a pep talk to yourself!
  • Strangely boring

Too much rambling, got very boring to read which is a shame, stopped halfway through and I NEVER stop reading a book!

Funny, heartwarming and sexy! Absolutely loved the characters. Couldn't put this book down and can't wait to read more of this author's books.
